ABOUT US
Our center is open year-round, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We offer care for children ages 6 weeks through 4 years old in a nurturing environment that supports each stage of early growth and development.
Our program follows the Iowa Early Learning Standards to support age-appropriate growth in social-emotional development, language, early literacy, math, science, and physical skills. We use the ABC Jesus Loves Me curriculum to provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences that build strong foundations while teaching kindness, values, and confidence.
Safety, Standards, & Qualified Care
River's Edge Childcare Center follows all Iowa Health and Human Services (HHS) licensing regulations to ensure a safe, healthy, and well-managed environment for every child. We maintain required staff-to-child ratios at all times including; 1 staff member for every 4 infants, 1 staff member for every 4 children ages 1 - 2 years, and 1 staff member for every 7 children ages 3 to 4 years old. Our staff are trained in CPR and First Aid and complete a minimum of 10 hours of continuing education each year. This ensures staff are staying current on best practices in health, safety, and early childhood education. These standards help provide attentive supervision, individualized care, and quality interactions throughout the day.
Infant Room
The Infant Room serves children ages 6 weeks - 12 months!
Our infant room is a peaceful, nurturing room where babies are cared for with love and individualized attention. With cribs, soft play areas, and sensory-rich toys, infants explore safely while growing through early milestones like tummy time, grasping, and early communication.
Toddler Room
The Toddler Room serves children ages 1–2 years old!
This room is a warm, nurturing space designed for busy toddlers who are learning and growing every day. Children build early language, motor, and social skills through sensory play, music, movement, simple art activities, story time, and hands-on exploration — all in a safe, loving, and engaging environment.
Three- and Four-Year-Old Room
This room serves children ages 3-4 years old!
Our 3- and 4-year-old classroom is a vibrant, structured learning environment that encourages independence and early school readiness. Children learn through art, dramatic play, and literacy-based activities. This classroom uses a faith-based curriculum that aligns with Iowa Early Learning Standards. We also focus on developing everyday skills such as washing hands and putting on shoes, helping children build confidence throughout the day. In addition, we support potty training when each child is developmentally ready, working closely with families in a positive and consistent manner.
